It started with a beer

A few of us with too much time on our hands decided to try our luck at all-grain home brewing. But sticking to recipes wasn’t our style. Before long, we were creating our own brews, always chasing something better.

Like any venture, not everything goes according to plan. Our first business—a skate shop—went up in flames. And the next idea? Dead on arrival. But we weren’t ready to give up. That’s when the idea for Hard Luck took shape.

With a reshuffled crew and a shared love for motorcycles, we had a recipe for something unique. What started as a simple home-brewing hobby has turned into a full-fledged home bar, a hangout spot where friends kick back, listen to cool tunes, play pool, and check out the latest artwork and photos the crew has turned out. A lot of nights end up with us wrenching on bikes or just shootin the shit over a cold one.

Whenever we’re not brewing, we’re out riding—usually moto-camping somewhere off the beaten path. Whether it’s a trip through the Canadian Rockies, a cruise down the Pacific Coast Highway, or just wherever the wind takes us, those rides give us time to clear our heads (and sometimes hatch some truly terrible ideas...but a few good ones, too).

Hard Luck as it is started because we have way too many ideas, so we made a few pieces of apparel for us and our friends. Then we had more ideas, and a few more friends. Like any addiction, we started and now we can’t stop.
